"The Creative Writing Life" Podcast Interview w/ Paul Zeidman, April 23, 2025

Paul Zeidman is a leader in the writing community, I'm a huge fan of "The Creative Writing Life" podcast, and am endlessly grateful that I got to be featured on his show this week...to share about my journey as an artist, athlete, and the overlap I find in both and have channeled into my poetrycollection Run, Burn, Rejoice.

The conversation went to a lot of different places, including my mom’s early predictions on my future as a runner, some wonderful and humbling compliments Paul gave to my work, my vampiric sleeping habits being conducive to productivity, authenticity > attention-seeking, Sabrina Little, Kris Brown, Laura Jean McKay, Tyler Andrews, Chaski Endurance Collective, Zandy Mangold, “Like the Wind Magazine,” Simon Freeman, Alex Roddie, and the multi-faceted-and-layered outlets that both writing and running bring to self-expression and autonomy.

My hope is that this interview encourages other runners to draw on their creative talents to express more of themselves, and for fellow artists to explore athleticism to find new sources of inspiration and strength.

I also hope this interview helps to find a home for my baby as I am definitely seeking agents or publisher for the full piece, all my channels are very much open to any interested parties or guidance.

We also spoke on my poem "American Kaiju Blues," which is being published by Dark Winter Lit today, linked in bio, and again I have to thank J.D. Isip for inviting me to perform the piece at his Moon Tide Press book release party for his newest collection, Reluctant Prophets.

This is quite a time in my life for many reasons, and I'm endlessly grateful to everyone who has been supportive and loving to me in ways I'd be entirely lost without, you know who you are, and I'm never going to forget or take for granted how amazing and important you are.

The full interview is available on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Podcasts.

I hope everyone is on a solid Friday-eve, stay creative and kind and happy trails, everybody.
